Earth Day Sorting Activity for Preschoolers – Trash or Recycle?

Teach preschoolers about recycling in a fun and hands-on way with this Earth Day sorting activity!

Kids will cut out different items and decide if they belong in the trash or the recycling bin. This interactive activity builds fine motor skills, encourages critical thinking, and sparks conversations about taking care of our planet.

What’s Included:
  • Sorting mat with trash and recycling bins
  • Cut-out items to sort
  • Easy step-by-step instructions
How it Works:
Cut an opening in the tops of the bins and glue the sorting mat onto white paper to create pockets. Then let your child decide where each item belongs—trash or recycle—and place them in the correct bin!

Perfect for Earth Day, unit studies, or everyday learning about environmental responsibility.
